"A CAPPELLA MADE IN ITALY
the first collection of Italian a cappella music
released on 15 November 2008
76 minutes! 11 vocal groups! 22 tracks!
Alti & Bassi, Blue Penguin, L'Una e Cinque, Maybe6ix, Mezzo Sotto, Mezzotono, Quattrottave, SeiOttavi, Sacs, The Ghost Files, Vocalica. Some of the best Italian a cappella groups - which have little to envy to foreign groups - offer a selection of their songs for a project that finally brings them together: "A Cappella Made In Italy", the first collection entirely dedicated to Italian a cappella music.
The album, on the Preludio label, will be available in limited edition in shops (distr. Egea), on digital and www.preludiomusic.com from 15 November 2008.
"A Cappella Made In Italy" contains original tracks, such as the splendid "Changes" by The Ghost Files (a group born from the collaboration between Andrea Figallo and Erik and Letizia of the Cluster) and numerous covers, some of which are presented as world premieres: "Les oiseaux qu'on met en cage", from the musical "Notre Dame de Paris", performed by L'Una e Cinque, "Let's Jive" by Debbie Fleming, performed by the voices of Quattrottave, "Alone again" in the version by SeiOttavi, a group that made a name for themselves in the 2008 edition of X-Factor. Some tracks, in the spirit of "a cappella" music, turn out to be very entertaining: such as Alti & Bassi's merry band of Aristocats, the Italian version of "Chili con carne" by The Real Group which, thanks to Blue Penguin, becomes "Brodo di carne", or "Che coss'è l'amor" by Mezzotono. These are complemented by fine performances by L'Una e Cinque with 'Tourdion' or Mezzo Sotto with Mezzo Blues and Crystal Spring. The compilation sees the debut of Maybe6ix with "Io per lei" (Pino Daniele) and "Giuliana" (Pino Daniele). (Pino Daniele) and "Giudizi universali" (Samuele Bersani), two previews from their first album. The disc closes with two modern spirituals by Sacs and two splendid covers by Vocalica, a historic group in the Italian a cappella scene.
