In this short article we explain why it is so difficult in Italy to find a cappella scores and we offer the possibility of vto coach some of them, offering young vocal groups or pop choirs the chance to start building an entertaining and effective repertoire.
The scope of the A Cappella Music contemporary has developed in Italy since 1994 with the emergence of the first a cappella pop groups, such as the Jazz'n Jam, the ALTI & BASSI and the Vocalicsand with the 1995 exploits of the Blacks by chance at the Sanremo Festival.
In the course of these 27 years, numerous vocal groups have emerged, more or less in every Italian region.
However, many groups struggle to put together an adequate repertoire to present at festivals or concert series. There are three possibilities: either you have an arranger within your group, or you have to commission an ad-hoc arrangement for your group, or, the cheapest solution, you can buy a cappella scores ready.
The opportunity to study well-written, ready-made arrangements allows groups not only to acquire repertoire, but also to grow and improve.
Preludiomusic has always promoted the publication of a cappella scores, both originals and covers, with the aim of filling a gap that relegates Italy (home of solo bel canto, but also... of photocopies!) to the bottom of the list in Europe for publications of this kind.
