Don Claudio Burgio was born in Milan and has been a priest since 1996. His first experience as a priest was at the oratory of S. Martino di Lambrate in Milan for 4 years. For another 4 years he was in the parish of Paul VI in Vimodrone. Since 2000, he has been Founder and President of KAYROS, working with minors, collaborating with the Court and Social Services of Milan. KAYROS is a non-profit association that works in the field of juvenile discomfort and the promotion of youth resources. It was founded on the initiative of Don Claudio, Giusy Re (high school teacher), young friends and many families. KAYROS in Greek means favourable moment, propitious time: aimportant occasion a time of grace for those who encounter it. It offers family-sized and family-run communities for minors and young adults in a state of neglect and distress, especially related to the family environment, at the request of the interested parties, authorisation by the Magistracy or other Authorities and Social Services. It also offers training workshops aimed at parents, teachers and interested adults, activities to promote youth resources through, above all, music and sport, personal help relationships through the counter for parents and minors, publication of texts and recordings made by the children and community educators. The community currently accommodates four minors of adolescent age.
Musically, he sang in Maestro Migliavacca's Milan Cathedral choir. He studied music at the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music, but after composing and publishing various sacred polyphonic songs and experiencing the Oratorio, he found a way to communicate through light music with young people.
A story bigger than ourselves is one of the fruits of his work with the boys in the Oratory: since he has been a priest he has stopped doing music for himselfbut writes and sings in public so that music is a tool to educate and spread the Word.
