Rodolfo Saraco

Rodolfo Saraco, composer and pianist, was born in Crotone and began his musical studies here at the age of 7. He graduated with top marks in composition studying with Maestro Vincenzo Palermo, and in piano studying with Maestro Antonella Calvelli and Maestro Costantino Catena, at the Conservatorio 'Stanislao Giacomantonio' in Cosenza.

He participated in several composition masterclasses, with composers G. Testoni, J. De Pyllecin, L. Ferrero, as well as the revision of an opera by G. Donizetti (Alina) at the Conservatory of Cosenza. In November 2014, he was invited to participate in the composition masterclass held by Maestro Michele Dall'Ongaro at the contemporary music festival "URTIcanti" in Bari. 

He is the winner of several composition competitions including the competition promoted in 2019 by "I Pomeriggi Musicali" in Milan, with the piece "NEL MARE" - poem for orchestra. As a composer, he has obtained performances in contemporary music festivals and concert seasons such as: Foundation "I Pomeriggi Musicali" of Milan, Foundation "Stelline" of Milan, Foundation "La Società dei Concerti" of Milan, "Festival dei Due Mondi" of Spoleto, Foundation "William Walton" of Ischia, Philharmonic "Laudamo" of Messina, Festival "URTIcanti" of Bari, Review "Notti Sacre" of Bari, Season "Incontri Musicali Mediterranei" of Crotone, "Teatri Meridiani" of San Fili (CS), Association "Ad Libitum", Association "Amici della Musica" of Taranto, "La Città della Musica" of Rossano (CS), "Festival dell'Aurora" of Crotone, "Conciertos en Familia" (Conservatory of Puerto Rico) and at: Teatro "Dal Verme" (Milan), Fondazione Stelline - "Chiostro della Magnolia" (Milan), Teatro "A. He is the author of a chamber opera, 'Oltre il Lago' and co-author of the chamber opera, 'Molly degli Aviatori'. He transcribed opera arias for the OCIM (Italian Chamber Orchestra in Malta) and for piano four-hands excerpts from Rossini's operas, performed on the 150th anniversary of the composer's death. His works are published for the magazine Falaut (July/September 2016) and for the Milan-based publishing house Preludio.

He has played for important national and international associations and concert seasons both as soloist and chamber musician, performing in Italy and abroad at: "Alfonso Rendano" Theatre (Cosenza), "Casa della Musica" Auditorium (Cosenza), "Complesso Monumentale di San Domenico Maggiore" (Naples), "Palazzo Albrizzi" (Venice), "Palazzo Cavagnis" (Venice), "Palazzo Zacco - Armeni" (Padua), "The Museum and Gardens of Pythagoras" (Crotone), Academy of Fine Arts "Fidia" in Stefanaconi (VV), "Gambaro" Theatre in San Fili (CS), "Sersale" Palace in Cerisano (CS), "San Francesco" Auditorium in Norcia (PG), "Aula Magna" of the Conservatory of Cosenza, Universiteti Kristal in Tirana (Albania), Birštono Kurhauzas, Druskininkų M.K. Čiurlionio Meno Mokykla, Joniškio Kultūros Centras, Raseinių Rajono Kultūros Centras, L. Rėzos Kultūros Centras (Lithuania), Royal British Legion Hall (Dagenham, UK).

In 2017, he founded Duo Gymel together with pianist Anita Frumento.

In 2017, CRAM awarded him the title of 'Artist of Excellence'.

He was assistant professor of theory, solfeggio and basic musical subjects, chamber music, piano and piano accompanist at the Cosenza Conservatory of Music.

He holds the piano chair at the Liceo Artistico, Coreutico e Musicale P. Candiani/P. Bausch in Busto Arsizio.
