Christian Paterniti

Graduated in piano with top marks and honours under the guidance of Prof. Caterina del Campo at the "Arcangelo Corelli" Conservatory in Messina. In the same institution, in the class of Maestro Gaetano Indaco, he also obtained a second-level academic diploma in piano with top marks, honours, honourable mention and the right to publish his thesis. The latter, supervised by musicologist Mario Musumeci, contains the entire translation from French to Italian of the pioneering Traité historique d'analisé harmonique(1982) by composer and musicologist Jacques Chailley.

Parallel to her academic piano training, she attended master classes and studied with eminent musicians such as Leonid Margarius, Giuseppe Andaloro, Vincenzo Pavone, Maria Federica Righini, Pierluigi Camicia, Roberto Cappello, Leslie Howard, Fabrizio Dorsi (conducting).

In 2009 he began studying composition with Maestro Carmelo Chillemi and in his class in 2019 he graduated with top marks and honours and in 2021 he also obtained the 2nd level Academic Diploma with top marks, honours and mention of honour.

He took part in several seminars: in July 2016 with Oscar winner John Corigliano on musical architecture; in October 2019 with Paolo Vivaldi on the "sound of the image"; from June to October 2020 he was admitted to the high music composition course with Mauro Bonifacio and Azio Corghi at the Accademia Filarmonica in Bologna.

He is a winner of chamber music, piano, composition and call for scores competitions.

In addition to Italy, he has received more than forty prizes and awards in Vienna (Austria), Athens (Greece), New York, Seattle, North Hampton (USA), St. Petersburg (Russia), Busan (South Korea), Sao Paulo (Brazil), Paris (France), Montréal (Canada), Bétera (Spain), Kwidzyn (Poland).

His compositions and musical essays are published by Florestano Edizioni, Preludio Edizioni, Agenda Edizioni Musicali, LIM and MD Edizioni (Italy), Pizzicato Verlag Helvetia (Switzerland), Da Vinci Publishing (Japan).

His music has been recorded for Navona Records, broadcast by Radio CEMAT and performed at the Teatro Vittorio Emanuele II in Messina, the Accademia Filarmonica in Bologna, the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, the Conservatorio "Luisa D'Annunzio" in Pescara, the Auditorium "Andrea Celesti" in Desenzano del Garda, the Sala "Alfredo Piatti" in Bergamo, the Pinacoteca Civica in Ascoli Piceno, the Biblioteca Civica Musicale "Andrea della Corte" in Turin. His performers include Ovidiu Marinescu, Anna Kislitsyna, Marco Ignoti, Antonio Sartini, Afra and Andrea Mannucci, the saxophone quartet of the Conservatory of Pesaro, Giuseppina Scravaglieri, Gabriele Rota and himself.

He is currently attending the 2nd level Academic Biennium in composition and choral conducting and the advanced course in composition at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome held by Maestro Ivan Fedele.
