Consisting of the five classic movements of the Mass, Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus and Agnus Dei, it proves to be an extremely fascinating work.
The 'contemporary' connotation may be frightening at first, just as the study of the first movement may leave baffled choirs unaccustomed to dealing with unusual dissonances and harmonies.
Nevertheless, the entire mass moves in a tonal framework and little by little, even the less experienced chorister will be able to become familiar with a language that, in some respects, is inspired by the world of soundtracks, at times evidently and intentionally 'cinematic'.
Available in three orchestrations (piano, organ and orchestra), the Mass acquires its full expressiveness and epicness in the orchestral version, which had its premiere on 13 November 2021 at the Church of Sna Gregorio Magno.
The first performance of the version for choir and organ took place on 5 February 2022 at the Church of San Maurizio in Solbiate Arno (VA) and was repeated on 21 May 2022 in the Abbazia Circestense in Abbadia Cerreto.
