Alessandra Gelfini

Alessandra Gelfini was born in Como and studied piano at the conservatories G. Verdi (Como) and A. Boito (Parma), where she graduated with top marks under the guidance of Cristina Carini. She then graduated in composition traditional at the Conservatorio G. Verdi in Como, under the guidance of Carlo Ballarini, always with top marks. She studied with Alexander Lonquich (Florence), Rosalyn Tureck (Oxford), Paolo Bordoni , Massimo Somenzi, Pier Narciso Masi, Maureen Jones, Enrico Bronzi and the Trio di Trieste. 

He has played for important Italian halls and seasons, including the Musical Evenings and the Concert Society of Milan, the Ravenna Festival, the Theatre Social of Como, the Ridotto of the Theatre Regio of Parma, the Theatre Pavarotti of Modena for Gioventù Musicale, the Theatre Ristori in Verona and performed in Switzerland (Teatro Sociale di Bellinzona, Auditorium Stelio Molo of RSI ReteDue, Longlake Festival Lugano), Croatia, Germany and Argentina.

He has collaborated as a pianist in the orchestra with theCantelli Orchestra,  e con I Musical Afternoonsas soloist and co-soloist with OFI Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana, Orchestra da Camera di Mantova, Orchestra Camerata dei Castelli.

She is the pianist ofi Kairos Tango (quartetto con  il quale affronta il repertorio del tango argentino dal classico al contemporaneo),  del Cècile Ensemble (women's quartet entirely dedicated to film music, a group for which she is also responsible for the arrangements) and initiated, with Argentinian pianist Juan Rivero, the piano duo Gelfini-Riverowith which they perform an original repertoire of Latin American folk music, specially arranged for the ensemble. 

She is the pianist in the 'Romance del Diablo' project with saxophonist Marco Albonetti and OFI (Italian Philharmonic Orchestra)

Da sempre molto attiva come compositrice e arrangiatrice, Alessandra Gelfini ha pubblicato  alcuni suoi arrangiamenti con la casa editrice Preludeincluding his reworking for piano four-hands of "An American in Paris"of George GershwinBela Bartok's Romanian Dances, again for the same ensemble, and his arrangement of "Married Life"by Michael Giacchino, for piano quartet.
