Nocturnes

NOTTURNI is a series of 10 pieces for voice and piano, with a prelude and an intermezzo for piano solo, composed on 10 poems by Giuseppe Ungaretti taken from the collection L'Allegria and contained in the volume Vita d'un uomo (© 2015 Mondadori Libri Spa). Dormire, Sonnolenza, Solitudine, In galleria, Fratelli, Inizio di sera, La notte bella, Fase, Silenzio, Rose in fiamme are the texts chosen by Enzo Sartori, who speaks of the collection as follows: "Notturni is a cycle conceived and constructed for a complete performance; at the same time, however, I think it is possible to perform only the second part, from the piece "La notte bella". In this case, the overall colour and perception will be very different. Finally, "La notte bella", the first piece I wrote and played initially for a trio with voice, clarinet and piano, can be detached and included in other programmes as a single lied".
