Medley
Cover notes by Paolo Conte, Medley is Alti & Bassi's fourth album. Perhaps their most successful album, thanks to seven medleys arranged a cappella for the voices of the Milanese vocal quintet.
What music to remember from the 1900s? An extraordinary century, a revolution! Cinema, Radio, Television, Internet, mobile phones. Music has followed the evolutionary process of technologies and means of communication to such an extent that what once appeared "light" is now so "classical" that it is performed in major concert seasons alongside composers such as Mozart or Beethoven. In the first records by Alti e Bassi, D. Ellington and G. Gershwin became symbols of the evolution of vocality, as old as man himself; now the unforgettable music of films, musicals, cartoons, disco and young people around a bonfire feeds and animates the original harmonies through 7 medleys: Walt Disney, the Platters, Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story, Cole Porter's American musical, Irving Berlin, Frank Sinatra and Fred Astair, the Beatles, Lucio Battisti and the Bee Gees. All strictly a cappella. The only exception from time to time: a tambourine. Cover notes by Paolo Conte.
I really appreciate the records of ALTI and BASSI. It's a real privilege to hear human voices that deliver the ferocious, impetuous sound of a swing band. I enjoyed very suggestive harmonic passages and an enchanting rhythmic slenderness.Best wishes for a good artistic adventure!W Music, W Swing!
