Elegy

The elegant Elegy for clarinet and piano by Danilo Lorenzini.

I happened to hear Elegy by Lorenzini during a clarinet recital with the composer accompanying on the piano. It is a piece of great value. The beautiful clarinet melodies develop on a piano harmonic substrate of great emotional impact, creating a deeply nostalgic effect. The sense of nostalgia is combined with a strong tension, arising from the climax created by the peculiar harmonic and dynamic successions that characterise the piece.

It was a great joy for me that one of my students introduced me to such a beautiful piece and I am very happy to introduce it into my repertoire.

I am convinced that this piece can be of great interest and help to all clarinet students to develop expressiveness in their own interpretative style. I will personally perform Elegy of M° Lorenzini as encore after a long recital.
