Palmo Liuzzi

Palmo Liuzzi, pupil of M. Gianfreda, M. Della Sciucca, P. Tortiglione and S. Chinca, has brilliantly obtained the academic diplomas in Composition, Choral Music, Choir Direction, Musical Disciplines (Conservatories of Lecce and Monopoli, Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali of Taranto); he improved in Musical Analysis with M. Pezzuto and in Choir Direction with M. Berrini, S.Manzo, P.P. Scattolin and F. Anti. He has written for regional and national magazines (Musica & Scuola, ContrAppunti, Choralia, Bollettino Ceciliano) and held public meetings for various institutions. As a composer he is present with two pieces in the CD Images published by Preludio Records, with two pieces in the CD Giro giro canto 4 published by FENIARCO Edizioni Musicali, with one piece in the CD Contrasti and with the diptych De Passione in the CD Puglia cantat published by A.R.Co.Pu. and in the catalogues of the following publishers: Carrara, Federazione Italiana Pueri Cantores, Setticlavio, Salatino Edizioni Musicali. His compositions have been performed in Italy and abroad in important concert series and in prestigious venues, including: National Concert Hall of Dublin (Ireland), Rotary Club of Klagenfurt (Austria), Museo Civico of Montepulciano, Museo dei Bruttii e degli Enotri of Cosenza, Sala Monteverdi of the Conservatory of Mantua, Scuola Civica Musicale B. Maderna in Verona, La saletta in Bologna, Biblioteca Civica in Bellagio, Chiesa S. Rita in Turin, Chiesa S. Andrea in Livorno, Unitarian Church in Dublin, Eglise Luthèrienne de la Trinitè in Paris, Pantheon in Rome, Chiesa S. Giovanni Battista in Foggia, Cattedrale di San Prisco in Nocera Inferiore, Teatro 'Petrarca' in Arezzo and municipal theatres in Ceglie Messapica, Ruvo di Puglia, etc. His composition Stabat Mater was a compulsory piece at the LXIV Concorso Polifonico Internazionale G. d'Arezzo (2016). He has received the following awards: First Prize at the 1st International Competition Wanda Landowska - New Music for Harpsichord, 2013, promoted by the Cultural Association Terra gialla of Terlizzi (Ba) Special Mention at the 3rd National Composition Competition Pueri Cantores, 2012, promoted by the Italian Federation Pueri Cantores of Pordenone Second Prize at the 11th National Competition Mandanici, 2011, promoted by the Music Association P.. Mandanici di Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto (Me) Third Prize (2nd and 1st not awarded) at the 9th International Competition Don V. Vitti International Competition, 2010, promoted by the Associazione Amici della Musica di Castellana Grotte (Ba) Special Mention at the 5th National Competition of Sacred Composition Corale Iconavetere, 2009, promoted by the Associazione Cappella Musicale Iconavetere del Duomo di Foggia He has been the Director since the foundation (1997) of the Coro Harmonici concentus, under the guidance of which he has performed in Puglia, Friuli, Basilicata and Calabria, and has been the guest director of various other choral groups. Since 2013, he has been Artistic Commissioner of A.R.Co.Pu., on behalf of which he teaches Elements of Composition at the Biennial School for Primary School Choir Directors.
