The "L'Una e Cinque" were born in Turin in 1995 as a vocal quintet. Each member comes from different musical backgrounds and the common interest is represented by the polyphonic and interpretative practice, by the artistic research within the most varied genres and repertoires. The Una e Cinque, tackling the various musical genres, has ranged from Classical music from the 1500s to Jazz without the accompaniment of musical instruments, to the performance of unpublished light music pieces. The Renaissance Project is the title of the new album. Contemporary a cappella vocality travels through the Renaissance. From Giovan Giacomo Gastoldi to Orlando di Lasso, from Pierre Passerau to John Dowland. A journey through the 16th century music of five different European countries. Italy is represented by a well-known piece in the repertoire of traditional songs: 'Il Testamento del Capitano' whose text dates back to the early 1900s, but the music to the Renaissance period. The excerpt 'Tourdion' was chosen for a 2006 Sole 24 Ore advertising campaign. The album was presented at MIDEM and is distributed in Japan.
