John Mirabile, choir and orchestra conductor, directs the International Opera Choir in Rome. Born in Sicily, here he was the first director of the Regional Youth Choir, and for 25 years he has directed the Polyphonic Choir 'Ouverture'. With these groups he has performed concerts all over Italy, and won prizes in numerous national competitions.
For five years he was a collaborating maestro with the children's choirs of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. His collaborations include Montserrat Caballet, Antonella Ruggiero, Franco Battiato. He has conducted choirs in soundtracks for RAI dramas and films, and has recorded several CDs. For 'Europa inCanto' he has held training courses for teachers in theatres throughout Italy, including the San Carlo in Naples, and abroad, at the Italian cultural institutes of Madrid and Brussels. He has conducted Aida and Turandot, and participated in in-depth programmes on Rai Scuola. He has composed pieces for choir and orchestra, including the Inno dei borghi più belli d'Italia. He holds workshops and masterclasses throughout Italy.
